Steamboat Wine Festival, Parade of Homes this Weekend
The Steamboat Wine Festival is held the first weekend in August because traditionally it was one of the slowest weekends of the summer. Six years later, only the Fourth of July is busier than this weekend.
Wine events are held all weekend long, starting last night with the Wine on the Mountain Kick-Off Celebration at the top of the gondola. Events have been added so you can even fly fish with wine and mountain bike with wine, and apparently there are quite a few active oenophiles, because some of those events are sold out.
Two favorites are the Stroll of Steamboat (downtown) today and the Toast of Steamboat (at the mountain) on Saturday.
The Stroll of Steamboat starts downtown at the courthouse then continues to your favorite shops and restaurants including the Cottonwood Grill lawn, the Images of Nature gallery and art galleries to sample appetizers and try hundreds of different wines. The event is from 4:00-7:00. Afterward, there’s a free concert at Howelson featuring the Freddy Jones band.
Saturday’s Taste of Steamboat is up at the mountain in the plaza behind Torian Plum. There is live music, cooking demonstrations, and plenty of appetizers and wine to try.
Before you head over the to Taste of Steamboat on Saturday, make sure you tour some of the finest homes in Steamboat during Colorado Group Realty’s Parade of Homes. Seven luxury homes are open between 10:00-4:00 in some of Steamboat’s most prestigious neighborhoods including the Sanctuary, Catamount, the South Valley and Old Town.
This is Colorado Group’s main fundraiser for the Colorado Group Charitable Foundation, which has given tens of thousands of dollars to local Steamboat charities over the last few years.
Tickets to Colorado Group Realty’s Parade of Homes are $20. Call (970) 819-6372 to purchase tickets.
