Steamboat Springs Sheraton/Starwood Selling Timeshares–NOT Real Estate
There was an article in today’s paper about Steamboat Springs Sheraton remodeling that I felt was misleading. It talked about sales of the 2 and 3 bedroom “vacation villa” units and the renovation of Morningside Tower “in time for residents to take ownership before the 2008-9 ski season.”
The article also talked about “two bedroom units are about 1,617 square feet and three bedroom units range from 1,762 to 1,946 square feet.”
So far, it sounds pretty good.
Then, the reporter goes on to talk about prices varying for mud season to Christmas week. Hmmm, sounds a bit like timeshares. The final paragraph about ownership gives it all away: “Owners purchase specific weeks outright.”
The Sheraton is selling Timeshares. Click here for the differences between timeshares and fractionals.
Starwood Vacation Ownership is the division of Starwood Hotels and Resorts that sells points, not real estate. They have 870 hotels to stay in if you choose to convert your points. There is no real estate involved.
In fact, Starwood Vacation Ownership has this disclaimer on the bottom of each page of their website:
This advertising material is being used for the purpose of soliciting sales of timeshare interest(s).
This material is intended to encourage the sale of Starwood Vacation Ownership all-villa resort interests classified by state legislation as timeshare sales. This is neither an offer to sell nor a solicitation of offers to buy in any state or other jurisdiction in which registration requirements have not been met.
This program might work for some families, but if you are looking for Steamboat Springs real estate that continues to appreciate in value which has your name on the deed, call Eliese Pivarnik at (970) 819-6372 and we’ll discuss your options.
