Steamboat Springs Must See: Fish Creek Falls
Fish Creek Falls is an incredible 283-foot waterfall located in the Routt National Forest only 4 miles from downtown Steamboat Springs. It’s one of the many gems close to town that you must see when you are in Steamboat.
The falls are most impressive in the spring when the melting snow creates a torrential wall of water spilling over the falls and under the bridge.
Some days you’ll see kayakers launching from right below the bridge into the boulder-strewn raging river of water and wonder if they’ll actually make it out at the other end.
The hike to the falls is only about a quarter of a mile, although you can cross it and continue to hike up Fish Creek for several miles in the Routt National Forest.
A day pass is $5.00, or you can use your National Parks annual pass and get in free.
