Steamboat Springs 4th of July–Summer Doesn’t Get Any Better!
There is no better place to spend the 4th of July than Steamboat Springs, Colorado. I’m never sure if there are more people watching the parade or more people in the parade, but the whole town and all the visitors turn out to pack the streets.
Picture Summary–
Here’s all the future Olympians on bikes–the Steamboat Springs Winter Sports Club.
The crowds and firetruck line both sides of Lincoln Avenue for blocks. Even though half the town is in the parade, thousands of visitors line up to watch.
The Steamboat Springs Swim Team “Team Lightening” cools off the crowd with Super Soakers.
Notice the rider–he’s not on a saddle and the horse doesn’t have a bridle. The crowd cheered at how much control the cowboy had over his horse.
The fireworks were amazing this year. They were shot off over Howelson Hill in three different places and were like the Grand Finale on steroids the entire time. The actual Grand Finale sputtered down to one or two small ones at the end due to an electrical problem. Almost 600 fireworks remain unlit, and rumor has it chief firework lighter Borden was more than a little disappointed.

I had no idea there were so many activities going on up there for the 4th! I might have to check it out next year.

Come on up and see us next year, Alan! While you’re here, go to the rodeo, bike the Core Trail, or soak in the hot springs after it cools off in the evening.
