Before Intrawest purchased Steamboat, the mountain village at the base of the Steamboat ski area was out dated. It was like walking into a ski condo built in the 1980s that was never remodeled–think orange shag, dark brown trim, avocado green appliances. The only people looking to buy those types of condos were the ones that had vision. They knew with a little work, the places could look great.

Well, that’s what the Steamboat base area was–a ski area sorely in need of a remodel.

Steamboat Springs, Colorado is beginning a multi-year, multi million dollar make-over that will transform our base area within 5-7 years. Those with a vision know that buying real estate now, while the construction vehicles are all over the place and the buyers are waiting to see if the negative press is right, is a smart thing to do.

Here is a map and a time line of the redevelopment plans at the base of the Steamboat Ski Mountain. (Click to enlarge it.) This map was made during 2007 at the height of the real estate boom, so don’t be surprised if a few of the dates for starting or completing a real estate project are changed.
