Steamboat’s Ski-In, Ski-Out Real Estate

Steamboat ski-in, ski-out real estateWho wants to live on the beach when you can own property right on the edge of a ski run?   You can walk through the door, crunch through the fresh corduroy, step into your skis, and be at the chairlift before most people get to the bus stop.

Steamboat Springs doesn’t have a whole lot of ski-in, ski-out real estate, especially in new construction.  The limited supply makes Steamboat ski-in, ski-out property a great investment.  We get a lot of guests who only have time for one ski vacation a year.  They are here for a very limited time and do not want to waste one minute more than they have to not enjoying the slopes.

If they have kids (and Steamboat is the #1 Family Resort in the West), the parents don’t want to be pack mules for the kids carrying all the skis, poles, helmets, and gear back and forth on the bus or shuttles.  Ski-in, ski-out becomes much more desirable the more kids you have and the younger they are.

Edgemont and One Steamboat Place are the latest projects that will provide luxury living with an on-mountain location.   Edgemont is just getting started and  One Steamboat Place is nearly completed.  They are the only brand-new developments coming on line in the next few years.

The base area will be developed, but with the credit markets as they are, there is a really good chance those projects that seemed so likely last winter will be put on hold until financing terms improve.  The new buildings at the Thunderhead Lodge location are not approved by the City yet, so the earliest they would break ground is next year.

Newer ski-in, ski-out developments are the Antlers and Christie Club.  The Antlers is a whole-ownership development while the Christie Club is a fractional-ownership property.

Older ski-in, ski-out developments include Bear Claw I and II, Storm Meadows, Bronze Tree, Ski Inn, Ski Trails,  Ptarmigan Inn, Chateaux Chamonix, Dulany, Ironwood, Norwegian Log, and Torian Plum.

As an owner, the ski-in, ski-out properties rent better and for more $$$, for a better return on your investment.
