The Steamboat Ski Resort sent a press release this afternoon saying Opening Day will be delayed until November 30 due to lack of snow. For skiers anxious to hit the slopes, the announcement was a disappointment. For the crews on the mountain finishing the new lift installation and Headwall grading, the warm weather and blue skies have been a welcome opportunity to finish some long-awaited improvements.

Vail was due to open tomorrow with one run, and other resorts have postponed their opening day, so Steamboat isn’t the only place wishing for snow (or at least cold nights to get the brand-new snow making machines revved up!) The long range forecast calls for cold nights and Northern Colorado snow.
