Over 10 Feet of Snow in December–AND IT’S STILL SNOWING!!!
What a difference a month makes. December, 2007 is officially the third snowiest month EVER! Steamboat Ski Resort opened one month ago with just enough snow to cover the dirt from re-grading the entire lower mountain. Since then, we’ve had 126″ of snow ………and it’s still falling!
Christmas week is the busiest ski week in Steamboat Springs, and the visitors who came this year were treated to incredible ski conditions. Okay, yesterday afternoon got a tad bit windy and closed every highway in and out of Steamboat, but until noon, it was a Top Ten Day.
The bright side of the Wrath of Mother Nature? The visitors who got stuck in Steamboat yesterday (every single mountain pass was closed, stranding thousands of people in the mountains) got an extra day to play in the snow.
