The Highmark at Steamboat Springs is reinventing itself once again as the Highmark Suite Hotel, a luxury suite hotel with an estimated opening date of June 1st.

The Highmark at Steamboat has had its share of problems over the years. For a brand-new building, it has been bought out from the developers (at least once), involved in a lawsuit (or two), and generally missed out on the frenzied buying boom of 2006.

This new chapter for The Highmark involves Crescent Hotels & Resorts. Crescent is a hotel management company formed in 2001 which operates over 40 hotels. They are actively looking to acquire properties, and Highmark fits one set of their criteria for upscale hotels in resort locations.

The Highmark has 23 three and four bedroom units. It is located on the corner of Apres Ski and Village in a convenient but uninspired location. There are 12 units for sale between $1,500,000 and $2,300,000.

The Highmark Suite Hotel could do very well. The trend in resort vacations is more families travelling together who expect luxury accomodations. Last week, Steamboat had “no vacancy”. We were busier than Christmas week. All places were booked, and another brand new luxury hotel would have been a welcome addition to families celebrating our 450″ of record-breaking snowfall over Spring Break.
