Home Buyer Credit Extended and EXPANDED
I recently wrote about the possibility of the $8000 tax credit being extended and expanded to include current homeowners. Yesterday, it became official.
For those who missed the government’s cash for clunkers and the first time buyer credit, you get another chance to get $$$ from the government. All you have to do is buy a house. (Preferably, from me.)
The price cap is $800,000, so that eliminates a lot of homes in the Steamboat market. See Steamboat homes for sale under $800,000.
Here is the recap of the program:
- First Time Buyers continue to be eligible for $8000 for all contracts entered into by April 30th and closed by July 1, 2010
- Existing homeowners may be eligible for a $6,500 credit for home purchases of less than $800,000.
- To be eligible, existing homeowners have to have lived in their current residence for 5 of the last 8 years.
- Income levels increased to $125,000 for singles and $250,000 for couples. (They were $75,000 for singles and $150,000 for couples)
